What it does

Gemini 3.1 Flash Image takes a text prompt, one or more reference images, or both, and returns a still image. It supports both text-to-image and image-to-image, so you can generate from a description alone or feed it an existing photo to edit or restyle. Framing is selectable per pipeline: 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3 and 3:4 in Image Generator and Image Editor, with 4:5 and 2:3 added in Product Shots.

When to use it

• Image Generator. Make images from text or reference photos: product shots, character art, posters with readable text, photoreal portraits.
• Image Editor. Change style, remove objects, modify single elements, or transform the whole look of an image you upload.
• Product Shots. Turn one product photo into a marketplace-ready set: white background, lifestyle, gradient studio, in-use and outdoor variants.
• Text Card. Generate title cards and text overlays where typography, colors, and animation are chosen for you automatically.
• Any job where you want several reference images steering a single result, since this model accepts multi-image refs.

What to know before you run it

Two render tiers are billed here: a standard 1K image and a 2K image selected with the HD quality option. Reserve HD for work you will crop, print, or zoom into, and leave it off for drafts and variations. Image Editor and Product Shots are edit-shaped and start from an image you supply (a single product photo, in the case of Product Shots). Image Generator runs from text or from reference photos, and Text Card builds its typography and colors for you. Aspect ratio is a per-pipeline setting rather than a model-wide one, and no aspect-ratio options are listed for Text Card.
